Here&#8217;s the story&#8230; me, <a href="http://www.facebook.com/james.jackson3">James Wacko Jackson</a> and <a href="http://www.facebook.com/brentonford">Brenton Ford</a> were shooting some footage for Eben Pagan&#8217;s upcoming &#8216;<a href="http://affiliates.getaltitude.com/z/102/CD744/">Guru Blueprint</a>&#8216; launch in the city. After we finished shooting the first scene, James &amp; Brenton headed off to the next location (Westin Hotel) whilst me and our camera man went the other way to get my car. After 15 minutes of walking we realized we both forgot where I parked the car. Fuck. Not only was James &amp; Brenton waiting for me at the hotel lobby, I had already parked longer than possible and was at risk of getting an extravagant city parking fine. So now me and my camera man are literally running around the city looking for my car. Finally found it after 1 hour!</p>
<p>By the time we got to the Westin hotel, Wacko was sitting there alone as Brenton had left to go to the football game that afternoon to see his Carlton team get smashed! Missing an integral person for our video, me and Wacko decided to just film something of pure value that we can give to you. We agreed to film the <a href="http://affiliates.getaltitude.com/z/102/CD744/">Guru Blueprint</a> promo video another time when all three of us were together. So whilst me and Wacko are discussing the topic for today&#8217;s agenda, Wacko suddenly shouts &#8220;Hey it&#8217;s that webinar guy!&#8221; I turn around and I see <a href="http://www.facebook.com/StevenEssa">Steven Essa</a> walking out the front door. I instinctively jumped up and shouted out to him. I told him about what we were doing and he happily agreed to help us out by sharing some tips. For those that don&#8217;t know, Steven is one of the world&#8217;s leading experts when it comes to marketing through webinars. He was actually scheduled to speak at a seminar in a couple hours that day and as it turned out, we didn&#8217;t have time to get any footage with him (but if you look carefully, you&#8217;ll see him for 1 second in the video when he enters the room).</p>

Whether you&#8217;ve never made an info product before or you&#8217;ve made a couple, watching this video will help you avoid the DESTRUCTIVE mistakes I did and will literally save you thousands of dollars, hundreds of hours and A LOT of stress and disappointment.</p>

<p>So many people learn affiliate marketing, SEO, PPC, social media tactics, forum marketing, product launch tactics, autoresponders, etc and THINK they have an <em>Internet Marketing business</em>&#8230; NO. That is not a business, it&#8217;s simply a bunch of tools.</p>
<p>If you have an actual product or service where you give your customer some sort of value they can&#8217;t really get anywhere else, THAT&#8217;S a business &#8211; and THEN you use IM tactics to get more and better customers through your door. So what I&#8217;m saying is before you worry about learning SEO, PPC, affiliate marketing, email marketing and all that, <strong>create a unique product or service</strong> (online or offline).</p>

<p>The no.1 belief that was holding me back from making money for a LONG TIME use to be that I needed to know everything before I made a decision. In this instance I wanted to learn and master every possible way to generate targeted traffic. Some of the vehicles (and that&#8217;s all they are) for generating traffic I learned about included:</p>

<li>Content network</li>
<li>Yahoo &amp; MSN PPC</li>
<li>Squidoo</li>
<li>Articles</li>
<li>YouTube</li>
<li>Twitter</li>
<li>Facebook</li>
<li>Magazine ads</li>
<li>Forum posts</li>
<li>Directory listings</li>
<li>Banner ads</li>
<li>Joint ventures</li>
<li>Affiliate marketing</li>
<li>Viral reports and videos</li>
<li>Referrals</li>
<li>Blogs</li>
<li>and the list goes on and on&#8230;</li>
</ul>
<p>After learning how to generate traffic from ALL those sources do you want to know how much I earned? $0.00&#8230;</p>
<p>You know why? Because all I was doing was learning rather than taking action upon what I learned. I was in my information overload phase and was trying to soak up everything I could which is good and bad. Without going too much off tangent, I want to tell you about what a paradox is and how it applies to business. A <strong>paradox</strong> is when you state a fact that is true, and then you state a completely opposite and conflicting fact which is also true. If you can&#8217;t recognize a paradox in business, then you will find it very hard to succeed because you&#8217;ll constantly be changing your opinion from one to the next and as a result will simply spin your wheels and not get anywhere.</p>
<p>So, how can you recognize a paradox you ask? The way I do it is simply understand that I don&#8217;t need to be 100% committed to one view point. Whilst one view point may be correct, a totally conflicting one maybe correct to. So what I do is Bruce Lee&#8217;s style of martial arts called <em>Jeet Kune Do</em> whereby you take what works and discard what doesn&#8217;t work. Applied to learning about traffic generation, you would understand that it&#8217;s important to soak up everything you can about the topic; but at the same time understand that you need to actually apply these traffic generation methods to your website as you learn them.</p>
<p>Another big mistake of mine was learning traffic generation BEFORE I even had a website to promote &#8211; so my advice would be have a product ready and THEN begin to learn or look further into traffic generation. Knowing how to generate traffic without having a product is useless. I know because I wasted about a year doing that.</p>
<p>I thought that if I learn all the ways to generate traffic then I&#8217;ll select the best ones and get the best ROI for doing my research. Do you know how long my <em>research</em> took? I am almost embarrassed to say, but it took me about 2 years to<strong> fully realize</strong> that I don&#8217;t need every possible source of traffic to generate sales &#8211; I can generate sales even with 1 traffic source. Once you truly realize this you are golden and the key to generating sales is in your hands.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m going to share a simple formula with you that will crystallize what I&#8217;m saying. I was fooled by its simplicity when I saw it before and as a result I spent a long time not making sales. Really think about this formula and don&#8217;t just look at it and say &#8216;<em>oh yeah duh that&#8217;s obvious I knew that&#8217;</em> because if you&#8217;re not generating sales or getting as many sales as you would like THIS IS THE MAIN REASON why&#8230;</p>
<h2 style="text-align: center;">It takes X amount of visitors to generate 1 sale.</h2>
<h2 style="text-align: center;">eg. If you have a 1% conversion rate, you need 100 targeted visitors to generate 1 sale.</h2>
<h1 style="text-align: center;">Therefore if you want to get 10 sales/day you need to bring in 1000 targetted visitors/day</h1>
<p style="text-align: left;">Back in the day when I was a newbie I use to get about 50 visitors/day and was only getting 1 sales every couple of days. What I did was test different headlines, auto responders, images, videos, guarantees, prices, etc and I had no noticeable difference in results &#8211; I still got 1 sale every couple of days. Can you see why? If we think in &#8216;The fast and the furious&#8217; terms it&#8217;s like I was putting NOS, turbo boosters, quad exhausts and superchargers onto a cardboard box car. Obviously all those modifications make a dramatic difference, BUT only to a car that can handle them. In this case, my website was only generating 50 visitors/day and all the modifications I did (split tests) didn&#8217;t make any difference because my site <em>couldn&#8217;t handle them</em>.</p>

<p style="text-align: left;">So the no.1 thing that separates websites that make good money and websites that make barely anything is the amount of quality traffic that is coming to the site everyday &#8211; it&#8217;s as simple as that.</p>
<h2 style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: #3366ff;"><em>HOW TO BEGIN GENERATING SALES RIGHT NOW:</em></span><strong><br />
</strong></h2>
<blockquote><p><strong>Find one traffic source and begin using it to drive traffic to your website. It doesn&#8217;t matter if your competitors have a better website or if they are advertising nearly everywhere, if you drive 100 targeted visitors to your site (and you have a 1% conversion rate) you WILL get a sale &#8211; it&#8217;s as simple as that.</strong></p></blockquote>
<p>Think about the above paragraph for a few minutes until something inside your head clicks and you jump up out of your seat and shout &#8216;I GET IT!!!&#8217; at the top of your voice because once you <em>get</em> this, you truly have the key to generate sales for ANY business.</p>
<p>To get the ball rolling, I recommend you begin with one of the following traffic sources:</p>
<ul>
<li>Make an AdWords campaign</li>
<li>Create a video and put it onto YouTube for a term that gets high traffic</li>
<li>Pay for a banner ad on a website about your niche</li>
<li>Recruit affiliates who already generate a large volume of traffic to their website</li>
<li>Get a JV partner to send an email about your product to their list</li>
<li>Think about something you can do RIGHT NOW.</li>
</ul>

<p>Nothing against the self help industry, I myself read lot&#8217;s of personal development books and am a self professed Tony Robbins addict. So why do I think the self help industry is killing true entrepreneurship one manifestation at a time?</p>
<p>It all begins with the principle of modeling. If you want the same result as someone else &#8211; find out what they do, do what they do, and you&#8217;ll achieve the same result. Very logical, very effective. After 4 years of following the modeling principle blindly, I realized: IF YOU DON&#8217;T HAVE STRONG ENOUGH SELF TRUST, modeling can kill true entrepreneurship because it restricts creativity and innovation.</p>
<p>What do I mean by &#8216;self trust&#8217;? This is having enough confidence that your business idea is good enough and can be successful. People who don&#8217;t have self trust either don&#8217;t believe in their ideas, OR don&#8217;t have any ideas. This leads people to Internet Marketing communities (eg. <a href="http://www.warriorforum.com/">warriorforum.com</a> &#8211; great forum) where they discover eBooks, videos courses and seminars with all sorts of money making systems they can model.</p>
<p>Nearly all these IM products instruct the student to follow the instructions exactly as they are, step by step to achieve a successful result of earning money. As a newbie, you immerse yourself with IM information and you begin to absorb one <em>must follow rule </em>after another. eg.</p>
<ol>
<li>Never target to the masses. Only build a business around a very specific niche and go deep.</li>
<li>Use the Google search network only because it has very targeted traffic. NEVER use the Google content network.</li>
<li>Don&#8217;t enter the Internet Marketing niche it&#8217;s too competitive.</li>
</ol>
<p>BS! BS! BS!</p>
<p>Don&#8217;t worry, I too blindly followed these rules from IM gurus for years! After being in the IM game for 3 years now, I now understand that <strong>RULES ARE THERE TO BE BROKEN.</strong> Most of the time these rules are there for a reason, but if you follow them blindly you may be holding yourself back from maximum potential.</p>
<p>Look at some of the most successful companies online like YouTube, Twitter, Amazon, Facebook, iTunes, eBay, WordPress, Wikipedia &#8211; none of these businesses read a &#8216;how to make money online&#8217; eBook. The founders of these companies had an INNOVATIVE idea and had the self trust to just go with it.</p>
<p>I myself for a long time was stuck in the mind space of thinking the only way I can make money online is if I make a &#8216;how to&#8217; eBook in a certain niche and put up a sales page like a typical info product such as <a href="http://897a1jjkx4q7co16sjs2uw1t2k.hop.clickbank.net/?tid=IMSS">TruthAboutAbs.com</a> (nothing wrong this model btw, that Truth About Abs website makes $10M/year). What I now see is I can make money online 1000&#8242;s of different ways and in ways that haven&#8217;t even been done before. If you have an idea, just do it. Just because you&#8217;ve never read about it in an eBook or seen a big guru talk about it doesn&#8217;t mean it won&#8217;t work.</p>
<p>The key is to stay open minded so that you can be receptive to innovative ideas and creativity that comes your way. This is what <em>true entrepreneurship</em> is about, <em><strong>INNOVATION</strong></em>.</p>

<p>High school &amp; college drop out&#8217;s usually end up becoming more successful entrepreneurs because they understand that:</p>
<h1 style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: #000000;"><strong>MARKETING IS OVERRATED</strong>. </span></h1>
<p>After you wipe off the coffee you just spat all over your screen, hear me out because <span style="text-decoration: underline;">this may very well be the most important post you&#8217;ll ever read as an aspiring entrepreneur&#8230;</span></p>
<p>For anyone that doesn&#8217;t already know, I&#8217;m currently in my second year of Marketing at Monash University. Back in high school, I was passionate as ever about entrepreneurship and believed going to uni to learn about business was stupid because business is simple &#8211; <strong><em>AND I WAS RIGHT.<br />
</em></strong></p>
<p>I believed that the key to a successful business is to be innovative and create a kick ass product or service &#8211; then the marketing (<em>branding, positioning, business growth, USP&#8217;s, etc</em>) will take care of itself and you&#8217;ll have a thriving business &#8211; there&#8217;s no need to formally learn these aspects of business because they&#8217;re common sense.</p>
<p><strong>Common sense corner : </strong>Don&#8217;t get me wrong, I&#8217;m NOT saying &#8216;never formally use marketing strategies&#8217; &#8211; they are very important but stay with me here to see where I&#8217;m going with this&#8230;</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">For example, when Virgin Airlines was starting up it was the most informal, unplanned business ever &#8211; and now it&#8217;s one of the world&#8217;s most popular airlines. I don&#8217;t know the <em>exact</em> details, but basically the way it started was Richard Branson was waiting for a flight back home to London. After finding out his flight was delayed for many hours, he checked out the price of a private jet that could take him home NOW. After doing a few basic calculations, he realized if he split the cost of hiring this private jet with a few other stranded passengers who&#8217;s flight to London also got delayed, he would actually break even and this private jet wouldn&#8217;t cost him anything. His idea interested more passengers then he planned and he ended up making a profit for organizing this flight.</p>
<p>Now did Richard Branson spend months making a business plan, narrowing down his USP, deciding on an optimal positioning and branding strategy, etc? <strong>NO</strong>. He simply wrote &#8216;VIRGIN AIRLINES&#8217; in big letters of a piece of paper and told people about his private jet sharing idea. He came up with the &#8216;Virgin&#8217; name from leveraging his existing music business. When he decided upon the &#8216;Virgin&#8217; name it wasn&#8217;t as a result of months and months planning the optimal branding strategy, he simply wanted a name to offend oldies and stand out.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s only as Virgin became massive that Richard hired actual departments solely focused on branding the <em>Virgin</em> name.</p>

<p style="text-align: left;">The point of this story is: If you have a good idea, just go with it and trust that if you put in the work, it will work out. All the little details and optimizations can be done later, but to begin with just get started! A good quote that summarizes this quite nicely is:<strong><em> &#8220;If somethings worth doing, it&#8217;s worth doing poorly&#8221;</em></strong><em>.</em></p>
<p><strong>Common sense corner: </strong>Am I saying create crap products or services? NO. I&#8217;m saying just strive for excellence rather than perfection so you can get your idea onto the market ASAP.</p>
