Wasn’t able to get a test drive today, but got a better feeling of what’s it’s like to have an exotic super car in your life… and it’s not that big a deal.

My values and priorities have FINALLY evolved whereby I reckon getting a Porsche at 21 would be pretty cool, but there are A LOT cooler things I could do. eg. Go traveling.

Because I’ve firmly ingrained ‘NEVER GIVE UP!’ into my attitude I held onto the Porsche at 21 goal for a very long time thinking if I drop it then I’m giving up. But the fact is, I’ve finally matured and have been able to drop the whole ego thing around having a Porsche because that’s the symbol that will confirm to me that I’ve made it.

Not saying it’s impossible for me to get a Porsche 911 Turbo within 8 months, but not as high on the priority list as it used to be.

It took just over 2 years until I got some sense slapped into me and realized Internet Marketing isn’t a business in itself, it’s simply a tool.

So many people learn affiliate marketing, SEO, PPC, social media tactics, forum marketing, product launch tactics, autoresponders, etc and THINK they have an Internet Marketing business… NO. That is not a business, it’s simply a bunch of tools.

If you have an actual product or service where you give your customer some sort of value they can’t really get anywhere else, THAT’S a business – and THEN you use IM tactics to get more and better customers through your door. So what I’m saying is before you worry about learning SEO, PPC, affiliate marketing, email marketing and all that, create a unique product or service (online or offline).

Mind Meister Is The Bomb!

The only other sites that got me this excited were Vimeo, Nanacast, 1Password and Things – and now Mindmeister is being added to my list of favourite resources!

Had I tried doing this any other way it would’ve taken me a few days and I wouldn’t get anywhere near as good results.

I’m using the mind meister mindmaps for creating sections of my business plan. It helps me see everything from the big picture which helps me determine what IMPORTANT actions need to be done. As we know, it’s easy to get busy. But being busy doesn’t mean you’re being effective. You need to be busy doing the RIGHT actions to be effective.

It takes the same amount of energy to work on something big as it does to work on something small.

This is what one of my mentors really instilled into my head at dinner last night. For too long I’ve been doing relatively small, low risk ventures and not pushing myself far enough outside my comfort zone. I had a rude awakening (this guy is a real hard ass. But damn, he gets shit done!) as he told me everything I’ve been doing for 3 years in this ‘Internet Marketing’ world is BULLSHIT. The truth was not an easy pill to swallow. The TRUTH is that ‘Internet Marketing’ is simply a vehicle, it’s not an actual business in itself (all relative of course, there are many entrepreneurs out there who have REAL Internet Marketing BUSINESSES – but the fact is 95% of so called Internet Marketers are really just fucking around trying to make some fast cash.

That’s the nice version, my mentor said it a lot more bluntly. His exact words were If you’re still doing this, you’re just sucking dick.

So what’s the point of all this? If you want to be successful, you gotta think BIG! Aim for the moon and set milestones along the way.

Eg. If you’re making an info product about creating a successful fashion brand, go talk with the CEO/Founder of the top 1% companies like Calvin Klein, Hugo Boss, Armani, Nike, Ralph Lauren, G-Star, etc.

How do you do this? Build RELATIONSHIPS with people who know people who know people who know people and eventually you’ll get connected with who it is you wish to meet. What’s one way to start? Usually the most obvious way. Find their phone number and call them. If you get rejected, analyze what happened and think of a way you can offer more value next time – not just monetarily, in fact most high end people aren’t even motivated by money. Think contribution, ego stroking, etc – think outside the box!

Now getting a phone number of such people isn’t easy if you don’t have the right connections to begin with. But that’s ok, there’s 101 more ways. The next best way is to find a way to connect with them through social media. Write @twitter messages to them, leave facebook comments/private messages, connect on linked-in, comment on their blog, etc.

That’s a way to contact them directly, but sometimes even this isn’t possible. So find out who they’re connected to such as their agent, manager, entourage, etc; and connect with that person. Then this person will help you connect with who you really want.

The key to all this is you finding a creative way to offer value to this person in a way that will make them want to connect with you. This isn’t easy, but giving value is what makes the world go round. Remember: Build relationships with people who know people who know people who know people and eventually you’ll get connected with who it is you wish to meet.

One last thing – you, me, Angelina Jolie, Donald Trump, Mike Tyson are all people. Our bodies are made of 99.999999999% same molecules and we all have an equal opportunity to do whatever we want once we eliminate the limiting beliefs that only exist in our own minds.

Don’t Worry About Fixing What Doesn’t Work, Focus On What Works & MULTIPLY IT To Turbo Charge Your Internet Business!

After watching Frank’s latest video, a MASSIVE light bulb went off inside my head (thanks mate!) when he said something along the lines of “Focus on what works and multiply it – don’t worry about what doesn’t work”.

This may seem simple enough, but what he says here is so unbelievably powerful it’s crazy! I can now see that this is one of the core reasons Frank enjoys the success he does. It’s clear in all his work that it’s never 100% perfect, but that’s because he doesn’t worry too much about the stuff that doesn’t work/doesn’t make much difference. He focuses on the stuff that DOES make a difference eg. Quality content, being entertaining, improving the relationship with his list, masterminding with other 7/8 figure/year entrepreneurs, outsourcing as much as possible, etc.
Things he WOULDN’T focus on would be posting on forums all day, replying to general* customer service requests, doing technical html programming, editing videos, etc.

And now here’s the exciting stuff to focus on that brings about RESULTS… traffic generation! He would focus on generating massive traffic from PPC, content network, list mailouts, massive JV promotions, etc. He would NOT focus on writing squidoo articles for low competition phrases, posting on forums with a signature link to his website, twittering 20 times a day, etc.

The final (& most important) distinction would be, when analyzing your results – don’t get too bogged down in what didn’t work and leave it alone to focus on what did work – AND then go improve those aspects and see if you can multiply/add more on somehow. This is the 80/20 rule being applied right now – FOCUS ON THE 20% OF THINGS THAT WORK and they will create 80% of your results.

I recently went up to Sydney and whilst I was there had a chance to catch up with one of Australia’s most successful Internet Marketers, James Schramko.

For those that don’t know, James quit his $300K/year job at Mercedes to pursue his IM dream. He’s clearly very happy with the results as in 2009 he smashed past the 7 figure/year profit mark!
